Autor: Christy Gilmour Okroj Drummond

European property investor, Avignon Capital, has recently acquired operational film company Berliner Union-Film (BUFA), along with the Berliner Union Film Campus, previously owned by Becker & Kries. The 24,000 square meter film campus is home to media companies such as YouTube and the Met Film School and also plays an important historic role, as it was originally built back in 1912. Avignon Capital has shown a growing interest in campus-style buildings after acquiring the multi-let „Umspannwerk“ office building also located in Berlin.

The company aims to increase the site´s income and bring BUFA to the international film production stage by offering space to occupiers looking for top quality.

Clive Nichol, Director of UK and European Investment, Avignon Capital, expressed his delight with the project: „The deal is a fantastic opportunity for Avignon as we have acquired both a unique multi-let campus and a historic film company; we anticipate significant capital growth from the project.“ Nichol also highlighted the appreciation they had for business involving the media by also mentioning their joint venture with Curzon Cinemas UK.
